Qurnat As Sawda is a hike to the highest peak in the Middle East, the black peak! Qornet As- Sawda is at 3088m and happens to be 22 kilometers long, offering the most beautiful landscape views along the way.
Due to the snow season, this hike usually happens between late April and early October. The starting point is at the Cedars Ski Resort Lifts, then we will be following the path of the chair lifts for 2 whole hours. Afterwards, we will reach a small hut located at Fam Al-Mizab, which is 2800m high. This will be followed by a one-hour hike, to reach the actual top, taking us another one hour to reach Qornet es-Sawda. However, the way back takes approximately 3 hours.
This hike is classified as difficult, yet it's on of the most interesting Lebanon hiking trails. In case you can’t walk the whole trail, a car can take you all the way to Dahr el-Qadib (2984m) or you will have to take a 4x4 to be able to reach the black peak at 3088m.
